aSIEMmetry is coordinated by Expertware and implemented together with Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate. The consortium brings together complementary expertise required to develop AI capabilities that are technically innovative and operationally relevant.
The project addresses several disciplines at the same time: cybersecurity operations, data engineering, machine learning, multi-agent systems, language models, platform integration and validation. No single perspective is sufficient to cover the complete challenge.
Expertware’s coordination and implementation role
As project coordinator, Expertware supports the alignment of technical activities, timelines and project objectives. Its implementation and cybersecurity-platform experience contributes to the architecture, integration and practical deployment aspects of the project.
This role helps ensure that the research components can connect with SIEM data sources and established SOC workflows. Operational considerations such as access control, deployment, performance and maintainability must be addressed alongside model development.
VUB’s research contribution
Vrije Universiteit Brussel contributes academic and artificial-intelligence expertise. Research is particularly relevant to the security entropy model, multi-agent modelling and the methods used to evaluate behavioural changes.
The academic contribution also supports structured experimentation and validation. New approaches must be evaluated against clear scenarios and measurable criteria before they can be considered reliable for security operations.
DNSC’s cybersecurity and institutional perspective
The Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate contributes knowledge connected to operational cybersecurity and national resilience. This perspective helps the project remain aligned with the realities faced by security teams and critical environments.
DNSC’s involvement also supports the wider objective of strengthening capabilities for both private and national SOCs.
Collaboration as a technical requirement
Consortium collaboration is not limited to reporting or coordination meetings. The project components depend on shared definitions, compatible data structures and agreement on how results will be validated.
The Year 1 Review confirmed the importance of maintaining this alignment as the project moves toward deeper integration and testing. By combining implementation, research and institutional expertise, the consortium is building a stronger foundation for delivering trusted, self-hosted AI capabilities for next-generation security operations.
